"Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can.
Point out to them how the nominal winner is often the real loser -
in fees and expenses, and waste of time."
Abraham Lincoln, Trial Lawyer

WHAT IS MEDIATION?
Mediation is a reliable, cost-effective method of alternative dispute resolution outside of a courthouse setting. In mediation, the parties and their counsel meet with a neutral, experienced third party in order to reach an agreement through a series of confidential communications and negotiations. The vast majority of cases that go to mediation settle on their own terms, oftentimes within half a day and for a fraction of the cost of going to trial.
WHY MEDIATE?
Taking a case to trial is stressful, expensive, and unpredictable. Even if you have the best attorney in town, the fate of your case and your future is ultimately in the hands of a busy judicial officer who typically spends the majority of a trial hearing negative details from the past. The moment closing arguments are over, you lose all control over the outcome of your case and life moving forward. Mediation is a much more proactive approach. Instead of dwelling on the past, a good mediator looks towards the future: encouraging the parties to be active participants, compromising when necessary in order to reach the best possible solution for their families, their finances, and their well-being. With mediation, you determine the circumstances of your own future.
